 Shortly after its introduction by George H. Pring, this dramatic Tropical Day Blooming Lily received a silver medal from the Society of American Florists. Many water gardeners insist that General Pershing with its huge, richly scented orchid-pink flowers, is the finest hybrid ever produced. Its blooms rise as much as a foot above its 14 inch diameter, purple tinged green leaves splotched red underneath. Buds are deep green striped with purple and when they open, you can see the light pink sepals with rose tipped yellow stamens at the flower's core. Extremely fragrant, General Pershingis an early riser, opening wide soon after the sun appears and staying awake until late evening.
